Recently we have found that some of our customers are ordering the incorrect cartridges for their printers. Following these tips ensures that you order the correct cartridges for your printer model number.
- Have your printer model number to hand you can find this on the front of your printer or in your instructions
- Or have the cartridges to hand that you have ordered previously. You can also find what cartridges are compatible with your printer from your printer manual.
- You can search on our website in a few different ways. You can either select the tabs and in three steps you can get your printer model number. Start with your printer manufacturer and then your printer series and then your model number.
- If you cannot find your printer series, when you put in the manufacturer all of the printers are listed underneath for the manufacturer selected. You can also search in the box which says Enter cartridge or printer model number. To search just input the manufacturers name a space and then the printer model number you will get a list on the left in blue when you click on your printer model number at this stage make sure it is the correct one.
- Some printer model numbers have letters after them and when you look on the list and it does not show this when this happens in this instance click on the printer model number and when the cartridge list is showing, confirm that these are the cartridges you require.
- You can also search by just the cartridge number for example you have an HP 27 cartridge input in the search box to do this make sure there is a space in-between the manufacturers name and the cartridge number the cartridge should be listed

Difference between Ink Cartridge, Toner Cartridge and Printhead?
Ink cartridges, toner cartridges and printheads are all important parts of printer. A printer is would not function without any one of these parts. There are differences between all three. We have listed some of them below:
1: Printheads and Cartridges
Cartridges and printheads are two very different parts. Printheads contain the nozzle of the printer. This nozzle squirts the ink from the cartridge onto the paper.
2: What is a Cartridge?
An ink cartridges contains ink, while a laser toner cartridges contains a toner. The toner is dry ink and looks like a powder. Both kinds of ink find their way to the paper through the printhead.
3: Price
Ink cartridges are cheaper than laser toner cartridges. But, laser toner cartridges are capable of printing thousands of pages where as ink cartridges can only print hundreds.
4: Print Speed
When it comes to the speed of the printing , laser toner cartridges are faster than ink cartridges.
5: Print Quality
Another difference between ink cartridges and laser toner cartridges is the difference in print quality. Laser printer cartridges produce better image quality than ink cartridges, but the difference is quite small.
Neither cartridges are better, the choice depends on your own personal needs.

Who Needs a Large-Format Printer?
Not many people are familiar with large-format printers. They are special printers used mainly in industries, such as professional photograpy and art, advertising and other manufacturing fields. They are not called large-format printers for no reason, some models take up the entire space of one room.
Just because we do not normally see large format printers in homes or general workplaces, it does not mean that they are not needed. There are lots of companies that use big printers on a daily basis for their work load.

How to change your ink cartridges
Printers are a necessity these days, they can be found on every desk and in nearly every home across the UK. They cost very little to buy and are often sold below manufacturer value. What are not given away are the ink cartridges which make printers useful! In many cases, the cost of ink cartridges is often more than the cost of the printer. Because of this, changing your ink cartridges should be done correctly so maximum use of the ink is achieved.
Each printer manufacturer makes their printers unique so that you must purchase their printer ink. Regardless of which printer you own, you will need to get to the inside of the printer to change the ink cartridges.
Look for colours
There are usually only two or sometimes 4 ink cartridges to change. To find the cartridges you need to open the door of the printer, they should be visible. Sometimes the cartridges are hidden at either side of the printer; this means you might need to push a button on the printer to move the cartridges to the centre, where they can be easily accessed.
To remove the ink cartridges out of the printer, you will often need to release a plastic catch, or pull or push on a small lever; they should come out with little or no resistance.
After you have removed the cartridges, have a quick glance into the printer, if there is any ink residue, this should be cleaned up using a dry lint free cloth. If the ink residue is not cleaned, it could clog the print heads of your new cartridges.
When you install the new ink cartridges, each colour goes into the same slot it came out of. Always place the cartridges ‘heel to toe’. There should be a ‘click’ to signify they are firmly in place. You are almost done. You might need to push a button on the printer to reset the new cartridges, always read your printer manual. Otherwise, turn the printer back on and you’re good to go!

When the time comes to choose a new printer you may find yourself swamped with options. One of the newest types of printer on the scene is the wireless printer. But you might be asking yourself, how exactly can a printer produce documents without cables?
The process is remarkably simple! Wireless printers work in the same way as Wi-Fi internet. The message is passed between the computer or source device to the printer through transmitted signals. This of course means you could encounter some of the same issues you have with your Wi-Fi at home or in your workplace, which includes going out of range and service outages. However, this should certainly not put you off considering purchasing a wireless printer.
One of the main benefits to having a wireless printer is not having cables trailing across your floor space. The more cables you have clogging up your office, the more potential hazards there will be. Not only can people trip and hurt themselves, the cables can also become damaged and rendered unusable over time.
Wireless printers are much the same as a wired printer. There only real difference apart from their cost is the lack or trailing cables. Most wireless models available are standard colour or mono laser printers, although multifunction variants are becoming more popular.
Your computer will need to connect to the printer remotely and will require the downloaded driver that you use for standard printer models. Once the connection is made the computer will be able to send documents remotely to the printer where the documents are completed.
There will be no loss of quality in the print out and the initial installation is no more difficult than a standard wired printer. The majority of wireless printers are laser printers which use a toner cartridge filled with powdered toner.
In short, a wireless printer works in a very similar fashion to a cabled printer, only using a Wi-Fi internet signal to communicate between computer and printer.

Common Reasons for Paper Jams
Paper jams are a common and irritating occurrence in all printers. This problem is very general and it doesn’t matter which brand or type of printer you have.
There are various reasons behind paper jams; below we have listed the most common reasons.
1. Damaged Paper
Using bent or torn paper in your printer is the number one cause of paper jams. Also using paper which as curled corners will most lightly cause a paper jam. Only use flat smooth undamaged paper in your printer.
2. Using the wrong tray
Today, printers have specific trays for special media such as labels, pictures and envelopes. If you use the wrong tray for the wrong for the wrong type of document it will lead to a paper jam. The manual which came with your printer will explain how to use each individual tray.
3. Incorrect loading of paper
The size of the paper needs adjustment with respect to the printer guide. If your printer guide is too tight or too wide it will result in the paper entering the printer at the wrong angle.
4. Paper overload
If you pile too much paper into the printer tray it will cause the paper to jam. Printer paper trays are designed to hold a certain number of sheets and no more.
5. Dirty printer
If there is an accumulation of paper dust and ink inside your printer, paper jams become quite common. The build up of toner inside a laser printer is one of the main reasons for a paper jam.

How Do I Get Print PDF File to Show in My Printer List?
Sometimes, you want to print a PDF file directly without converting it into a word document. This situation usually is common offices and bigger organisations. There might be occasions when the ‘Print PDF’ tab or command is not displayed in the printers list.

They’ll print their favourite webpage or download lots of photos and print them. However, beginners tend to make several mistakes when printing websites so it’s important to follow these printing tips to make the most of your hardware and software.
Photo Printing Tips
1. Download the photos you want to print.
First create a new folder on your desktop. Then start downloading pictures into this folder. You can do this by right clicking on the image you want to save from the web and selecting “Save Image As…” You can then change the name of the file or leave it the same.
2. Edit the photos.
With your photo manipulation software, set the photo resolution to somewhere around 200 to 300 DPI. This makes the image print quality rather than web quality, which is around 75 DPI. Photo printing at web quality makes for blurry, unfocused image. During this stage, you can also adjust the brightness, contrast, colour, hue, saturation, and sharpness. Doing this will give your photos the best quality they can achieve for photo printing.
3. Save your image.
After you’ve made the adjustments to the photo, it’s time to save it. The standard format in which to save photos is JPEG. These image files compress each time they are saved, meaning a bit of the quality is lost with each save, so don’t save them too often!
4. Time to print.
Your first concern should be that your printer is of photo quality. If not, you cannot expect to achieve high-quality results. When you go to print, be sure to set the printer on high quality or photo setting. This ensures your photo printer achieves optimum results. You should also use photo paper, which prevents bleeding, running and “muddiness.”

Printer Software Installation Guide
So … you have just bought a new printer and you can’t wait to go and print just about anything you can think of to see the results. But before you can begin to print anything you will firstly need to install the printer software. This ensures that printing is a smooth and trouble free task. The good news is that most software will facilitate the installation process on it’s own with just a few clicks needed at your end!
1. Always read the instruction manual
Before you do anything you need to read the instruction manual carefully, this is very important. You must take note of any special instructions like if you need to uninstall a previous version of the software first, or if you need to tweak some settings or turn your virus protection program off.
2. Insert the installation disk
Insert the installation disc into the disk drive, you will hear all sorts of whirring and buzzing sounds, this means the drive is reading the disk. Usually, a new window will pop up, displaying all the files read on the disk. If you see a “readme.txt” or “readme.doc” open this and read the contents of the file. These are usually important pieces of data or reminders in that file pertaining to your printer software. When you’re done, look for a clean file that has an icon different from others and a “.exe” extension. This is the executable file. Click on it.
3. Installation proper
Once the executable file is run, the installation process will automatically begin. Get the box which came with your printer software CD and take note of the registration code or key. You might need to enter this data later during the installation process or when you need to reinstall the software all over again.
During the installation, you will be asked which folder you want to save all information related to the printer software, which type of installation (typical, custom or minimum) and which icon to use. It is suggested that you stick with defaults. Then tweak the settings later based on your preference.
4. Reboot
More often than not, before you can fully use a newly installed programme, you will need to reboot the computer first. After rebooting, run your printer software to check that everything is working as it should.
All finished! Just remember to carry out all the necessary precautions like scanning the software ever now and again to make sure it is all running as it should!
